There are 5 different types of hair loss in men, but approx 90% of men face hair fall due to androgenetic alopecia. During hair loss, the hair line starts moving back to head in a ‘horse shoe’ pattern which results many physical and psychological effects on the person facing hair loss, which includes person looked aged, Feeling of diffidence, Negative effect on matrimonial prospects, Stress, Avoiding social gathering, & many other affects which varies from person to person.

 

Types of Hair Loss in Men


 

Traction Alopecia


It is the type of hair loss in men which is a slow hair loss due to the pulling of hairs, this pulling can be due to the hairclips,  tight ponytails etc. so in more simple words hair loss due to pulling of hairs or chronic traction, which consequently results in shrinking of hair line is known as traction alopecia.

 

Telogen Effluvium


It is the type of hair loss in men, which is a scalp disorder which results into thinning/shedding of hairs. The telogen effluvium, is be caused by emotional or physiological stress which changes the hair cycle as a result leading the person to hair loss. this type of disorder can be occurred due to eating disorders, fever, chronic illness, surgery, anemia, crash diets and drugs.

 

Androgenetic Alopecia


It is also known as androgeneic alopecia, alopecia androgenetica or male pattern baldness this is the most common type of hair loss in men, this hair loss is due the receptor in hair roots in the front and crown section of scalp. This receptor is sensitive to male sex hormones (androgenes), as a result the hair follicles start shrinking and at-last separates itself from scalp. This is inherited alopecia in which the hair follicles are highly sensitive to sex hormones.

 

Alopecia Areata


it is the type of hair loss in which the hairs are lost in round patches from the scalp or sometimes from complete body. This type of hair fall involves genetic, environmental and auto immune as a factor which causes hair loss in men. It can also sub categorize in 3 main heads written as below;

Alopecia universalis (when all the body hairs are lost)

Alopecia totalis (when all of the scalp hairs are lost)

 

Cicatricial Alopecia


It is also known as scarring alopecia, it results in to permanent hair loss; the hair follicles are destroyed completely. The hair follicles are often destroyed with inflammation which may due to injury, burning of skin, disease etc.
